Santa Marta is a city located on the Caribbean Sea, in the Magdalena department in northern Colombia. It is a busy port and was also the first Spanish settlement in Colombia. It is the access route for excursions to Tayrona National Park.

It is the largest of the islands that form part of the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, with a total area of 26 km², making it the largest island in the country.
